After the enormous success of the first International Summer Lab 2008, Tanzlabor_21 and Künstlerhaus Mousonturm are preparing for the second time a laboratory for artistic practice and theory in cooperation with all study programs of the Hessian Theater Academy (HTA). The Summer Lab takes place from August 19th to 28th, 2010 and is again curated by Bettina Milz.

The Summer Lab is an education project made possible as part of Tanzlabor_21 in collaboration with the Hessian Theater Academy. It is conceived as a forum to facilitate communication between artistic practice and the theoretical reflection of contemporary art forms. The Summer Lab is specifically directed at students of the HTA, as well as young international artists. Within a concentrated timeframe, outstanding international artists and theorists will hold workshops and give lectures. The Summer Lab focuses on contemporary dance and its enormous potential to initiate inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations at the crossroads of dance and performance. The accompanying performance program at Mousonturm is open to the public.

PLAY & ERROR
Is the mistake - the error, the misunderstanding - a central prerequisite for artistic conception and creative work? Many artists regard it as a sort of tool to discover the previously unconceivable. "Play & Error" is the topic of the International Summer Lab 2010 and forms the conceptual framework for the exploration of error as an impulse for innovative artistic production.

The Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt houses the center of the SUMMER LAB 2010. On eight days outstanding personalities of the international dance scene will direct and guide an interdisciplinary work process in form of a workshop. Choreography and stage direction, movement, music, scenography, multimedia, dramaturgy and production will find application thereby in a combination of practice and theory.

Program Structure
4 workshops, each directed by two to three WS leaders from theory and practice, warm-ups, free time and space for own thoughts and developments, shared meals, lectures, performances at Mousonturm, fringe program, lounge, etc.
